Tutorial: How to change the product code of your Nokia N97?

Changing the product code of your Nokia N97 or other Nokia smartphone is an easy and sometimes reasonable thing to do in order to get firmware updates faster. Also this process is used for debranding your Nokia N97 or other smartphone with changing the product code to a generic unbranded version of your smartphone.
To change your product code you will need the Nemesis Service Suite (NSS) which can be downloaded here! After you download and install the NSS on your PC using the default configuration, so just click Next until you are done. Then connect your Nokia smartphone to the PC with the USB cable provided and set the connection to PC Suite mode. After that start the NSS application on your desktop PC and you will get the following screen:



Next, click on the Search (Scan for a new device) icon located top right on the application screen:



When you get the following screen click "Phone Info":



Find the "Read" button on the right side of the app in the "Product Data Edit" group and click on it.



You will get the product code of your Nokia N97, before changing it I suggest that you write it down along with the other values. Now click the "Enable" check box next to the "Product Code" value:



Enter the new product code and click "Write". The product code on your Nokia N97 is updated and you can make sure that you have the updated product code by clicking "Read" once again. That's it, now you can proceed with getting the latest firmware update for your smartphone.

Important: Please use product codes that are for your region, changing a NAM phone with a European product code will give you a serious headache. Remember that you are doing this on your own risk and we are not responsible for any damage or liability that results from the the product change procedure.
