Download Skype for Symbian S60 3rd edition Nokia smartphones

Skype has been released for Symbian S60 3rd edition smartphones as a limited beta version available for S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2 devices. The Skype client works with 3G or WiFi connections on your Nokia smartphone. Although on the official release is said that only ten phones are supported, users are reporting that the Skype client works on all S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 1 and 2 devices that are not in the list.
They also note that:

Please remember that it is a beta release, which means that the quality is not up to our usual high standards.

Some usage notes:

• Install it to the phone memory (needs 6mb of free space)
• Install over the air or via Nokia PC Suite, or just send the application file to phone over bluetooth

Unfortunately the Skype client is not available for Nokia S60 5th edition smartphones like the Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini or the 5800 XpressMusic. We can only hope that Skype will expand the support to S60 5th edition devices very soon. I know that there are many alternatives for having Skype on your phone, but I think it is good to have a original Skype app developed by Skype.
