Google Search for S60 quick key drains your battery
After Google announced it's native search client for Symbian S60, I installed it on my Nokia N73 phone and I started to put my phone more often on the battery charger. I did not pay much attention at first to this problem since I was practically not using my phone much these days. But after a while it made me thinking that actually my battery that usually lasted for 3-4 days with a lot of talking now was drained in less than 24 hours.
Since the Google Native search was the only application I installed on my phone I decided to make a simple test. I took Nokia N73 Music Edition and Nokia 6110 Navigator and both with installed Google Search. I put both phones in offline mode so that the network coverage would not affect the final outcome of the test.
After two days I noticed that both phones lost their battery bars very quickly when the Google Search "Quick key" option was available. The thing that the "Press [pencil] to search" button was displayed on the idle screen seemed to eat the battery up very quickly.

Symbian Theme Viewer
From the screenshot can be clearly seen that the ThemeViewer v0.1 beta will support Nokia N73, N73 Music Edition, Nokia N95 with the 8GB Black version, Nokia N78 and Nokia N96. It is not clear yet if this will be desktop application or an online theme viewer built with AJAX or even Flash.

Nokia N82 firmware to include geotagging
The release of new Nokia N82 firmware in the first few months of 2008 has been confirmed from the official S60 Multimedia Blog.
"I'm excited to share the word that this feature will be available in the next firmware release for N82. In the new firmware GPS Location Saving can be turned On or Off directly from the Camera Settings."
"Work on Location Tagging is progressing well, some other new features are also being added (that I can't talk about yet). What I can say is that the new firmware is on target for Q1 but I can't say when exactly it will be available."
"If you don't have an N82 but you have a GPS enabled S60 3rd edition device, or if you just can't wait until the new firmware is released for your N82 check out the Beta Nokia Location Tagger application available as a free download from Nokia Beta Labs.
The Nokia Location Tagger is a stand alone beta application that can give you a good idea how Location Tagging works. However, the Location Tagging User Interface that will be in the next firmware release for N82, will be will be simpler and thus easier to use."
When testing this service remember that GPS only works outside where you have a clear view of the sky.
